INFLUENCE & LYRICS - WORD PLAY
One of the biggest comments I get is people thinking I have a Tupac vibe. Pac had a movement, he was not just a rapper he was a soldier much like Nas is. So yes he died before his time but some people learned more about his movement and got influenced. They can’t crush his legacy no more than they can destroy his influence in anyone out here right now.
In everything besides music, everybody has their influences. Usher says it all the time; he’s influenced by Michael Jackson. When Shyne came out with Bad Boy in ’99 people thought he was trying to sound like Biggie. But even Biggie, Tupac, Nas, Jay-Z or Michael Jackson were influenced by someone or something at some point in their life. We all look up to someone and incorporated something from that person. Kids love my music, I’m sure there’s a kid out there who is being influenced by me right now! And I don’t see anything wrong with being influenced by Snoop. Scarface or 50 Cent. That’s what a movement should be about. If you can’t accept that niggaz like
To me it’s almost like today they wanna make everything tougher for a hip hop artist. Look here, I’m gonna clear this up for the record. I listened to Naughty By Nature the most when I was younger! As a matter of fact, when I was in
What’s wrong with the music industry? Why record sales are low today is because the execs are not doing their jobs like they use to back in the day. They can’t handle the large volume of talents out there right now. Instead of doing thorough home work on every demo or press kit they receive, they're hungry for the fame and the power of the artist and being a good for nothing hot shot. Some might be jealous of the success of artists. They wonna be the one with the fans and the money and the fame and all that. Industry execs today are so hungry for the artist's shine, they'll destroy a new artists' chance at a career just because they don’t see how his/her career is gonna benefit them. This is real. When I do my music I do it well. I come with different flows, my word play, lyrical content and the music (beat) on every song is hot. But they will never know that from listening to one song and judging me by it. It’s their job to do the research and find out more about the artist and dig deeper. But I've got got my own game plan and it works.
WHILE I’M STILL YOUNG- The Talking Drums, distributed by Ghetto Breed Dist.. hits shelves all over

Hey Freddy,
It's Eric and Bonni from Orangeville (I'm the musician and Bonni is the cute one who knows rap)! We met at Centre Island in the beer tent during Carribana (Toronto). We really enjoyed hangin' with you, CJ, and your videoman (sorry we can't remember his name). We have throroughly enjoyed your new CD, While I'm Still Young, over and over again. That title song is ready for radio all across North America, as far as we are concerned. We love how you incorporate different expressions, instruments, and vocals throughout your CD. Bonni's son, Travis , who has grown up with a passion for rap and hip/hop over the last 8 years and is the house rap/hip/hop officianado, described it as a blend of Usher and Tupac and was completely blown away that we met you. Bonni's fav on the CD is Animal (and I gotta go along with her in that it is one of mine too). Have you guys made any headway in booking at TJ Hangar's Grill (519-938-8792) or Main Street Station (519-943-0700) in Orangeville? TJ's is the preferable venue due to size, but both would be cool to lay down your music in. If you are still planning to hold your CD release party, Bonni and I would love to be invited and would like to bring her son (Travis) and another friend Jessie (a sixteen year old who writes/performs and has recorded his own rap/hip/hop CD.
(BTW, your whole CD is great to make love to....just like you said.)
Much happiness and success to you,
Eric and Bonni

I don't have much to say but I am impressed. I remember back in the day in Freetown we used to kick it on the pipe...You know what I mean. Creating mouth beats and rapping. Yeah! You bounced out of Freetown during the first war. Nevertheless, I was based there till the second work and I bounce out later to the States. You have kept the legacy of the making music growing to the next level. I am proud of you son. I know life is a slideshow thru all the pain and struggle we've been thru. Keep it pimpin...stay forward...ONE!
