In his highly anticipated album, ‘Relapses’, Eminem returned to the music scene taking shots at celebrities just like he had done in all his previous albums. Mariah Carey (who is one of the lucky celebrities to be named on Relapse) released a counter - dis song entitled ‘Obsessed’ in which she painted a picture of a delusional and obsessed Eminem who won’t leave her alone. Her lyrics "...why are you obsessed with me …lying that you’re sexing me…"  challenged Em’s claim that he dated the pop star at one time. The song was released in retaliation to Eminem’s ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad’ in which Em called her husband Nick Cannon a 'sucker' and made derogatory statements about her and her ex lover Luis Miguel. The song also suggested that he (Eminem) would be taking her (Mariah) back from Nick. Nick Cannon fumed in bloody rage and blogged about the song for several days after the 'Relapse' album was released. He even threatened Eminem "would pay" but the rapper's responds fanned the flames after an interview on his internet radio station called Shady 45.

BET aired the dis song (Obsessed) by Mariah Carey and has been playing it for a while now. Eminem retaliated by releasing yet another dis song directed at Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon entitled ‘The Warning’. In it he slams Carey by giving detailed accounts of their alleged sexual encounters. He also threatened to release racy pictures with voicemail recordings of the pop star to the internet if she continues to deny their previous relationship.

"...I’m obsessed now, oh gee, Is that supposed to be me, In the video with the goatee, Wow, Mariah didn’t expect you to go balls out, b**ch shut the f**k up!, Before I put all them phone calls out," he raps.

                      

Mariah may well keep fighting. Her Eminem feud has been going on for almost eight (8) years. She has denied ever dating Eminem and it is reported that she is repulsive to the idea that they had sex before. Eminem claims to have proof of their ‘sexcapade’ and reported to be is very pissed that she denies it.

Mariah, a hugely successful singer, actress, record producer and songwriter, was the first artist to have five (5) singles top the Billboard 200 charts. She has released twelve (12) chat topping albums since 1990 and is internationally renowned for her high pitch yet silky voice. She has won every music award known to man, from the NAACP's Image Award to the Oscar Awards. Grammys, Humanitarian Awards, BMI Pop Awards, BillBoard Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, MTV Music Awards, World Music Awards, American Music Awards and the list goes on and on of the awards she has won repeatedly over the years.

Her 2002 song 'Clown' off her 'Charmbracelet' album was also a dis to Eminem. She spilled lyrics like

 "...You should've never intimated we were lovers, When you know very well we never even touched eachother." 

In 2008 Mariah made the Times magazine's Most Influential People's list. Mariah has done little brand marketing over the years but she has participated in endorsements for Intel Centrino and launched her own Jewellery and accessories line for teenagers. She also has licensing with Canadian cosmetics empress Elizabeth Arden and released her own fragrance in 2007. According to Forbes, Mariah Carey is the sixth (6) richest woman in entertainment with a net worth said to be estimated at $ 225 million.

One does not have to be a seasoned Hip Hop fan to remember the 1999 major studio album entitled ‘The Slim Shady LP’ by Eminem. The nine (9)x platinum Dr. Dre produced album is riddled with controversial Lyrics in classic songs like ’97 Bonnie and Clyde’ where Eminem described an imaginary outing with his toddler which ended in the disposing of his ex – wife’s dead body. In the hit song ‘Guilty Conscience’ (which is one of my favourites Eminem songs) Em talks about murdering his ex - wife and her lover. Eminem is arguably the most gifted dis lyricist in Hip Hop. He has taken shots at ex US president Bill Clinton and rocker Marilyn Manson in the ‘My Name Is’ music video. This highly respected Detroit MC who is also a founding member of the rap group D12, was the one who gave Hip Hop mogul 50 Cent his much deserved break into the mainstream market when he signed Fif’s and his G Unit Records to Shady Records. Ever since then G Unit Records has been an extension to an Interscope distributed music empire parented by Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are not the first to be dissed by Mr. Mathers nor is Relapse the first of it's kind. Eminem has dissed several celebrities over the years.

In the year 2000 Eminem released his second major studio album entitled ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’. The smash hit single, ‘The Real Slim Shady’ like in his previous album, bore controversies from lyrics about Christina Aguilera giving oral sex to Limp Bizkit’s front man Fred Dust and NBC’s late night talk show host Carson Daly. Celebrities including Will Smith, NSYNC and Britney Spears out raged publicly when they felt insulted by Eminem’s debatable lyrics about them. Eminem even feuded with his mother. Lyrics like,

"...How you're gonna breast feed me ma you've no tits..."

Em has been very successful with celebrity bashing. He hangs in the same cloud as Mariah even as Mariah has had a longer stay in the music business. By the release of his third platinum selling LP entitled 'The Eminem Show' everyone knew for sure that dissing celebrities was going to be an important ingredient in Eminem's music. The album was nominated for album of the year and won Best Rap Album. It went eight (8)x times platinum and ranked # 317 on the Roling Stone's 500 greatest albums of all time. Some of the celebrities who got a beating from Eminem's lyrical wit were nu metal band Limp Bizkit, DJ Moby and Dick Chaney's wife Lynne Chaney. The Eminem Show was one that bore a lot of controversies like other Eminem projects. The lead single 'Without Me' made derogatory statements towards boy bands and it was it hit. Other singles like 'Cleaning Out My Closet' reached top ten on the charts and had the topic about his mother in everybody's eardrum. Each album released went diamond and his net worth has now been estimated to be in the neighbourhood of $ 100 million or more.

2004 saw Eminem’s fourth major studio album entitled ‘Encore’. The chat topper drew controversies yet again. It was propelled by the hit single ‘Just Lose It’. The late King Of Pop, Michael Jackson called into Steve Harvey’s Los Angeles radio show to express his disdain with the ‘Just Lose It’ video because of a caricature of Jackson. The video ridiculed his 1984 Pepsi commercial incident when the King of Pop’s hair caught on fire and teases him about his nose. Even Steve Wonder was not pleased with the lyrics on the album. Eminem went on to exaggerate commonly known stereo types of several famous people including Pee Wee Herman, MC Hammer and Madonna.
